A New Sister For Lulu?

There is always something going on in San Francisco and last weekend was no exception! My eyes were opened to a whole new world of Blythe! I have always known I was a special doll, but I didn't know that there were so many people out there who felt the same way about me and "my kind."

My person, Kimberly, and I attended the amazing Blythe-Con together and we met doll enthusiasts and Blythe dolls from places I have only dreamed of traveling; Japan, Poland, Australia, New York, Maryland, Oregon, Los Angeles, to name just a few. There were hundreds of dolls to meet, new friends to make, fabulous fashions to try, and prizes galore! It really was doll heaven!

This was the first Blythe-Con for Kimberly and I so we really didn't know what to expect, but whatever we thought we would see, we certainly couldn't have imagined how our lives would change in a very big way!

You see, there were a few special dolls that were looking to be adopted as gifts from very generous donors. These custom Blythe dolls had all the "bells and whistles," and everybody in the room longed to take one home! My person, Kimberly, went to meet the dolls and fell in love with one; a dancer, named Bella Rose. To Kimberly, this sweet girl stood out. There was something so special about her countenance that she won Kimberly's heart right away. Many people felt the same about Bella Rose, but only one person could take her home. So everyone put tickets into a raffle box to see who would be the lucky new parent!

With great anticipation, the crowd waited to hear who each doll would go home with. One by one, the dolls left the stage as Kimberly and I watched. In my heart of hearts, I've wanted a sister for a long time, but the drawing was coming to a close and I started feeling that my heart's desire would not be fulfilled. Kimberly assured me that if we were supposed to get a new sister for me, it would happen.

Finally, the time came to draw out the names of Bella's new family. I was about to find out if I would get a new sister and, as you might imagine, I was all nerves! But Kimberly took my hand and looked at with a me smile that said, "everything is going to be alright." A ticket was pulled out of the raffle box and the crowd listened anxiously as the announcer read off the numbers.

My hopes raised as I saw Kimberly grab her ticket to check if it was a match. "Could it be?" I said to myself. The next thing I knew, Kimberly jumped up with the ticket in her hand and to my great delight, she shouted, "I've got the matching ticket!"

Ever so gently, Bella was carried over to our table, where Kimberly lovingly took her in her arms. For me, meeting my new sister for the first time was the best moment of my life! All at once, my dreams came true. I had a sister!

Bella and I spent the car ride home holding hands and sitting side by side. We were both rather quiet, as if in a dream that we didn't want to end. Perhaps if we talked, we might wake up and realize it just wasn't real.

But, it was real! We had each other now and we were family!

It has been just a few days since we adopted Bella Rose, but she has already found her happy place in our family. We have been finding out everything we can about each other. I already know she loves to dance, read books, draw and sing. She brightens up a room with her positive nature and she has a happy heart.

Her favorite food is anything spicy, so we will get along well. She admires people who are kind. She tries to be helpful, and if I say something unkind about someone, she suggests that perhaps I don't know the whole story. I don't mind the correction, it actually makes me smile. I can learn a lot from my new sister! She tells me she loves my adventurous spirit and zest for life. Perhaps I can teach her a thing or two, as well!

Now that we are together, Bella Rose and I will be joining our efforts in these stories I share with you.

Sisters always have great stories to tell!

I know that now!

Love,

Lulu
