A World of Friends for Lulu

There is something generous about the warm smile of a stranger, the accepting expression in the eyes; a foreshadowing, perhaps, of a friendship that could be. And even if there is no further interaction, there's a moment that a connection is made. When this happens to me, I am often reminded of a quote I came across once... "We are all just walking each other home". (author unknown)

As I continue on my African adventure, I am reminded of something about myself; I love people! I can't help it. It is sometimes easy to get overwhelmed by all the bad that is in the world, but I still hold to what I believe; people want to love each other and to be loved. They want to help where they can. They want to be needed. They want friends and they want to be a friend.

Having the chance to go to Africa is truly exciting; where nature is beautiful and often fierce. There is much to see that I have never seen before. Yet, above all, it is the people I will meet that will make this journey truly epic. I look forward to sitting with "strangers" knowing, though a world apart, we are so very much the same.

Karen has been a stellar travel companion! Would you believe that she and I are like two peas in a pod; both adventurous spirits, for certain! Though strangers when this journey began just a few days ago, we have become friends. And for that, I am thankful.

And speaking of Karen, she always gets great pictures, which makes it possible for me to share some special moments with you!

Here is a picture taken with my new friend in the Lounge in Doha, Qatar Hamad International Airport. Communication was tricky due to language barriers, but there was such a warmth about this lovely woman! As you can see in the picture, she is generous of spirit!

On the flight with Qatar Airlines, It was my privilege to meet the wonderful crew. They were so focused on making everyone feel comfortable. It was a full flight and they were very busy, yet they took the time to come over and meet Karen and me. I suppose they don't see traveling Blythe dolls much! Now I have friends in the travel business!

(Pardon my hair, it was a long day).

Once in Tanzania, what started with a growling tummy (I was so hungry) turned into a wonderful opportunity to meet my newest new friend, Upendo, at the cafe. Her name means, "one who is beloved, or loved!" How perfect! For this was a special friend, indeed! (And a great cook)!

There will be many more friends made before this trip is over. And I plan to share all the fun with you! But for now, I am off to the next adventure! Until then...

"KWAHERI" (goodbye in Swahili) :)

See you soon!

Love,

Lulu

P.S. Perhaps you will make a new friend today?

Remember... "We are all just walking each other home".
